Resistant California peppers for Almeria's entire season

Hazera Spain has a range of resistant peppers that cover the entire range of Almeria's cultivation cycles.

Patrol and Evoke are California red and yellow peppers, respectively, ideal for early and extra-early cycles. These varieties are resistant to powdery mildew, produce GG/G calibers, and enter fast into production. The recommended transplant dates go from April to the end of June, depending on the area.

The yellow California Insignia variety can adapt to long cycles in very different cultivation areas, from Berja or Dalias to Gergal and Fiñana, passing through the entire West and East of Almeria. Its planting is recommended from July 5 to 25, although it can be extended according to zones and management.

Late segment
This year, Hazera is launching two powdery mildew-resistant varieties to cover the late segment.

"The Chevy variety is a red pepper for the late and extra-late cycle. The recommendation is to transplant it from August 5 to 15. It is a plant with great growth capacity, tall and open, with dark-colored leaves. This gives it good behavior against certain pests and fungi, such as botritys. Chevy was developed as a 100% flowpack-oriented variety, offering high levels of G-calibre throughout the cycle,” the company stated.

"The Velar variety is a yellow pepper for the late-cycle. We recommend its transplanted from August 1 to 10. This plant has an easy first set. The fruit size is G/GG throughout the cycle, also very oriented to the flowpack. It has very high yields of great quality."

Machado, the late-cycle variety
The Machado variety has become one of the leading varieties in the market thanks to its high production and fruit quality, competing with other Powdery Mildew resistant varieties. Its capacity for regrowth to lengthen the cycle makes it stand out. Machado is recommended from July 25 to August 10.
