First geothermal plant in Andalusian greenhouses is underway

The Cardial Recursos Alternativos company is immersed in the construction of the first geothermal plant in Níjar that will help heat greenhouse crops. As detailed on its own website, this company from Almería, in which Grupo Cyopsa has a stake, has already begun work to start up the geothermal power plant. "Initially, it will have the capacity to meet a demand for 24 hectares of greenhouses, with the possibility of doubling the area."

The use of thermal energy through heat exchanger plants will also allow cooling the greenhouses in the hottest months of the year, so this solution isn't only limited to the winter months.

This first plant of the Cardial network in the area will require an investment of more than 4 million euros. It will generate employment in engineering, construction, management, and maintenance areas and provide crops with clean energy, free of any type of emissions, the company stated.
