Frost risking greenhouse products in Albania

The recent frosts that swept across the country are damaging newly planted spring crops in greenhouses.

"On Monday morning, I uprooted many plants in the greenhouses that were damaged by the frosts, but if they continue for another three days as forecasted, then the damage will be beyond repair," said Gentian Ziu from the Kutalli area in Berat, who has an acreage of about 1 hectare.

According to him, greenhouses could not be protected from temperatures below -1, as many farmers were trying to protect their crops by circumstantial means, such as paper towels."
