The Netherlands wants to become more sustainable. Its ministries play a crucial, regulatory, guiding role in this. Two of these are the Agriculture, Nature, and Food Quality (LNV) and Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) Ministries. But what are they doing to achieve this goal?
The EZ and LNV have published a second sustainability report outlining their operational management. In 2020, they achieved a 34% CO2 reduction compared to 2019.
Feeding cows
This year, they did a podcast. In it, representatives tell of their governmental departments' achievements over the past year. Among other things, they've partnered with the world's first floating farm, Floating Farm in Rotterdam. Governmental catering companies collect their processing waste. It's then fed to 40 floating cows. This is circular cooperation – the companies use the cows' milk.

Then, in 2025, the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority's greenhouse complex will get a thermal storage system. That'll cut the EZK/LNV's combined gas consumption by 56%.
