Julie Caignon, VOLTZ Maraîchage:

“We have great ambitions for all European countries”

Earlier this year, Graines VOLTZ, a distributor, developer and breeder of vegetable and flower varieties, divided its activities into two commercial structures: VOLTZ Maraîchage for food production and VOLTZ Horticulture for home and city gardens.

The two entities supply seeds and plants to professionals. “We work with different types of clients, from producers working in direct sales to larger producers and manufacturers,” explains Julie Caignon, head of communication at VOLTZ Maraîchage.

Graines VOLTZ was created in 1985 in Colmar by Serge Voltz, who is now the company’s CEO. “France remains our main market, where we enjoy a very strong reputation,” explains Julie. “We also work on the export market, with great ambitions for Europe. Our goal is to be able to propose to all European countries an offer as large as in France, with a marketing strength developing at the international level. We also want to develop our plant exports. For the moment, we mainly export seeds.”

3,000 varieties
The VOLTZ Maraîchage range includes some 3,000 varieties of seeds and plants. “Today, we are known for our diverse range of tomatoes and squash, and as a specialist in herbs (chives, basil, parsley…), radish and beans. We perpetuate the production and genetic research of the Hild Samen society, whose portfolio of activities we took over in 2020. Our wide range enables us to meet the demand from vegetable producers. Our developers work to serve the demands of the market.”

Graines VOLTZ has made major developments in terms of its organic offer. “The organic varieties are increasingly in demand. We want to offer the same quality and the same number of organic and conventional varieties.”

Online sales
In order to further support its clients and offer them complementary services, VOLTZ Maraîchage now also sells seeds online. “We want to be as close as possible to our clients. Our strength is based on service and reactivity. This is why we introduced e-commerce. The orders placed online are sent within 24 to 48 hours at the most. We also have an instant stock checking service so our clients know right away if a product is available or not. Payments are made by credit card but new means of payment will be possible in the coming months.”

In the near future, VOLTZ Maraîchage plans to further develop the site with new content and services.
