Russia has increased greenhouse vegetable production by 40.5%

The greenhouse vegetable production in Russia has significantly increased compared to the same period last year.

Russian farmers have grown 423 thousand tons of vegetables and green crops in winter greenhouses since the beginning of the year, which is 40.5% higher than in the same period in 2020 (301 thousand tons). The greenhouse cucumber harvest, in particular, amounted to 271 thousand tons (+28.2%), and the tomato harvest amounted to 142,7 thousand tons (+72.3%).
 
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia expects the positive trend to continue in 2021, with a harvest in winter greenhouses estimated to exceed 1.4 million tons.
