Eco-kultura and Rost biggest Russians companies in horticulture

Two major producers of greenhouse vegetables, Eco-kultura holding and GC Rost have made it to the top three leaders in the agricultural sphere of the Russian Federation, having invested together over 1,86 billion euro in the industry.

Eco-kultura is carrying over the projects with the overall investments amounting to 1.5 billion euros. Among them, there are greenhouse complexes in Stavropol, Moscow, and Voronezh areas and Dagestan, as well as a berry production in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The second place belongs to the holding Step, developing milk farms.

GC Rost occupies third place, having invested about 316 million euros in the greenhouse complexes in Tyumen and Tambov areas.

Horticulture remains one of the most attractive spheres for investment in Russia, as vegetable consumption is growing in the amount of 1 kilo per person a year. Currently, tomatoes and cucumbers take over 90% of the whole greenhouse produce. Companies can diversify their business by involving in lettuce and berry production.
