The Bureau of Plant Industry - Los Baños national crop research, development, and production support center in the Philippines is presently conducting a project entitled, “Development of vegetable varieties in Asia” funded by the Asian Food and Agriculture Cooperation Initiative.

The project has conducted a refresher training on “Varietal Development of Tomato” at the Multipurpose Hall, Timugan, Los Baños, Laguna on March 22, 2021, in which 15 young researchers and interns participated. Through this activity, trained researchers are expected to broaden their knowledge on varietal development especially on lowland vegetables in which the Center is focusing on.

Ms. Niña R. Rosales, agriculturist and the tomato breeder of the Center served as the Resource Person and gave lectures on botanical description, crop management, crop protection, and varietal development of tomatoes.
