Javeko specializes in building cooling cells for the food sector. On 1 January 2020, this Dutch family business was passed down within the family. Jan van Eekelen founded this company in 1998. He transferred it to his son, Arnold, and son-in-law, Maurits Mol. Jan will remain involved with the company as a client and management advisor.
Maurits (32) joined Javeko in April 2019. He started his career eight years ago at VolkerWessels. This is a major European construction services business. There Maurits, who studied civil engineering, was involved in utility, infrastructure, and industrial construction. So, he has a great deal of commercial experience in new-build projects as well as cold store construction. Maurits will take over Jan's commercial tasks.
Forty-year-old Arnold has been part of the company for 20 years. He's gained extensive knowledge and experience in insulation system technology. He joined the company in 2001 and learned how to build cold rooms in practice. A few years later, Arnold was promoted to chief technician and eventually became Javeko's projects manager.
Founder Jan van Eekelen is 65 now. His career spans 40 years. He'd worked in various commercial positions elsewhere since 1980. On 1 April 1998, with Javeko B.V., Jan took the step of becoming an independent cold storage contractor. Initially, he worked from home. But after two years, he purchased premises in the Dutch town of Breda. The company has been located there for over 20 years now.
The first post-transfer year has gone well for Javeko. Clients still trust the two younger men, so 2020 went well for the company. Javeko has been making international inroads too. They have projects in Belgium, Germany, France, Portugal, and even Russia.
In the future, Javeko wants to continue being knowledgeable, flexible, and able to switch quickly. That's always been the company's greatest strength. They also pride themselves in having short lines of communication with clients and employees. Javeko will continue to optimize its business processes, including through digitalization. But the company also wants to improve and becomes more dynamic every day. Javeko aims to provide more services in, for example, cold store maintenance and new product development.
