Saudi Customs impose 15 percent customs duty on imported vegetables

After a decision of the Council of Ministers to make amendments in the customs regulations in a way that protects and encourages local industries and agricultural products, Saudi Customs imposed a 15 percent customs duty on imported vegetables. There has also been an increase of 10 percent in customs duties on some imported household products.

Earlier imported vegetables had been exempted from customs duties. The imposition of 15 percent duty would cover products such as olive, cucumber, carrot, tomato, chili pepper, zucchini, okra, parsley, eggplant, coriander, and melon.

According to an article on saudigazette.com.sa¸ customs duties of other non-produce household products have been raised from five percent to 15 percent.
