Clifton Tomasini, Quest

"Dehumidifiers and air movers are used from seed storage to harvest"

“We started by selling our smaller standalone dehumidifiers. Now, we have our walk-in IQ series, with two units fitting on the back of a transport truck,” according to Quest president, Clifton Tomasini. Quest is a North American-based manufacturer specializing in humidity control across various industries such as water treatment, pools, cold chain and nutraceuticals.

In 2006, Quest began receiving requests for dehumidifiers from hydroponic growers, but the controlled environment agriculture (CEA) scene was somewhat of a mystery to the company. After Tomasini was assigned to research the CEA industry in 2011, he was astonished to learn about the sector’s growth and what exactly growers could produce in greenhouses and indoor farms alike. With this knowledge in hand, the company broadened their expertise to provide solutions tailored to greenhouses and indoor farms alike.   

“Our dehumidifiers and air movers are used from seed storage to harvest,” says Tomasini, with clients using Quest’s systems to store seeds, maintain optimal atmospheric conditions throughout production and for postharvest processing. Quest has installed dehumidification systems across the world and for various horticultural operations, all with the goal of delivering air of the highest quality to the system.

When asked what has changed in climate control for CEA, Tomasini says that systems are increasingly efficient, more sophisticated and better understood by clients with respect to system requirements and proper use of the equipment. Furthermore, farms are getting bigger and with the company’s IQ series, Tomasini feels that Quest is currently the best solution on the market. According to Tomasini, “everything about the IQ series was designed for a farm; it is efficient and redundant,” offering clients a guaranteed performance. The IQ series also includes a highly sophisticated control developed specifically for CEA and can be accessed from  any Internet-connected device. Better yet, Tomasini urges the horticultural sector to keep an eye on Quest, as the company has spent recent years developing new products slated for release in 2021. 

Quest’s integrity is not solely based on sales but rather on customer success. Tomasini explains that Quest “isn’t done until the customer is successful. Buying our equipment also means buying our expertise and our commitment to customer success, such as [enabling growers to maintain] a tight level of precision with temperature and relative humidity while remaining energy-efficient.”
