Lipetsk region remains a forerunner in the Russian greenhouse industry

The growers of the region of Lipetsk (Russia) have collected 78 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables in greenhouses for growing seedlings as well as vegetables, ornamental plants and fruit. The head of the regional Department for the Agriculture, Mr. Oleg Dolgih, reported about the fact. The result exceeds the data of 2019 by 40%, when 55.8 thousand tons of vegetables were collected within the first half the year.

“Over 47 thousand tons of cucumbers, almost 31 thousand tons of tomatoes and 296 tons of eggplants were collected”, specified Mr. Dolgih.

The Lipetsk region remains the leader of the Russian Federation in greenhouse vegetable growing. Four greenhouse complexes located in Dankovsky, Eletsky, Khlevensky and Usmansky regions participate in crop collection. As of today, the overall acreage of functioning year-round greenhouses amounts to 220 ha.

“The greenhouse complexes of Lipetsk region continue increasing their production capacity”, noted the head of the Department for the Agriculture. “Until the end of the year we expect expansion by another 42 ha. Then the overall acreage would exceed 260 ha.”
