The Civil Guard detained two people in El Ejido for trying to set fire to a greenhouse twice while their owners slept on the premises. The detainees, A.E.S. a 32-year-old woman that is a resident of the town of Vicar, and M.C. a 39-year-old from Balerma, will be investigated for crimes of threats, coercion, and damage.
Three months of investigations
According to a press release from the Civil Guard, the operation was carried out over a three-month period. The investigation began as a result of telephone threats and coercion that the owner of a farm in El Ejido received on an ongoing basis.
In the initial phase of the investigation, the authorities determined that the perpetrators were calling from a hidden phone number and that they were conducting certain security measures, such as only using this number to communicate with the victim, as well as turning the mobile off and removing its SIM card after each call.
In the course of the investigation, the Civil Guard agents discovered that the perpetrators had attempted twice to set fire to the farm during the night while the victim and his family slept. On both occasions, the rapid action of the Civil Guard and the Firefighters of the West prevented greater damages to the farm and protected the physical integrity of the victims.
Once the authorities identified the perpetrators they proceeded to locate and arrest them.
