Emergency approval for Tutavir in Greece and Cyprus

The emergency registration of Tutavir has been granted in Greece and Cyprus for the use against tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta) in tomato production.

In recent years, Tuta aboluta has become a serious problem for tomato growers worldwide. The control of tomato leafminer is made more difficult by the rapid pest resistance development to many active substances.

Tutavir with its mode of action is a suitable resistance management tool. Based on a baculovirus it is an effective and highly selective bioinsecticide, harmless to beneficial insects, which are often used in integrated tomato production. Tutavir is compatible with most insecticides and fungicides and can be easily integrated into any pest management program. Tutavir is being distributed by Hellafarm in Greece and Lambrou Agro in Cyprus.
