Russian company buys 11 ha greenhouse complex in Leningrad region

One of the biggest vegetable producers in Russia, GK Rost (earlier known as Technologii Teplichnogo Rosta), enters the Leningrad region. The company, owned by Mr. Sergey Rukin, purchased the greenhouse complex project from the owner of Sun Development Company, Mr. Kyrill Vyazovsky.

The complex, growing tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce, will have a capacity of over 7 thousand tons per year. The investments in the production could comprise 50 million euros.

UK Rost (a part of the similarly-named group of companies) and its beneficiary, Mr. Sergey Rukin became owners of LLC Agrotechnologii in February 2020. The company was created by the entrepreneur, Mr. Kyrill Vyazovsky for the construction of the greenhouse project in the Volosovsk area of the Leningrad region that was put on hold.

A representative of GK Rost has shared that the company are planning to construct a complex to grow tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce with a capacity of 7.1 thousand tons a year. The acreage of the complex should comprise 11 ha, the investments in the construction have not been disclosed.

Technologii Teplichnogo Rosta holding, founded in 2013 is one of the leaders of the Russian greenhouse vegetable market. In 2019, the company was renamed to GK Rost. The group of companies manages four functioning greenhouse complexes in Moscow, Tyumen, Rostov and Bryansk regions and is building two more in the Michurinsk and Nizhny Novgorod region. The company logistics center of 19 thousand square meters is located in the Moscow district. In 2019, GK Rost produced 84 thousand tons of greenhouse vegetables and in 2021 expects to reach 300 thousand tons.

The investment boom in the greenhouse construction that began in 2015 is coming to an end, shared the head of the Center for the Economic Forecasting of Gazprombank, Ms. Darya Snitko. Tomato and cucumber segments, the most productive ones in the sphere, are stagnating for the second year in a row. Thus, in the new projects, the growers aim at producing lettuce and cherry tomatoes.
