Ready for a snack at the Fruit Logistica or looking for new tomato varieties to grow? TomaTech will introduce Savorino & Flavortom, their new mid size cocktail tomatoes, at the show. They are part of the Harmony collection of six branded tomatoes selected for their quality, "Each offers a unique gourmet eating experience. Each Harmony brand is a distinctive and appealing composition of flavor, color, texture, size & shape," the team with TomaTech explained.
According to TomaTech, these branded tomatoes address an issue that consumers and retailers have been facing for decades and one that breeders and growers have not been able to resolve.
"Current cocktail cluster tomatoes continually disappoint consumers with their weak, watery flavour, low level of sweetness, lack of aroma, poor, soft, mealy texture and tough skins. Even the market leading varieties do not consistently deliver the flavor, color, aroma and texture consumers are looking for and retailers wish to supply," explains Ofer Ben Zvi, CEO of TomaTech.
“We have utilised our extensive breeding experience in specialty cherry tomatoes to develop two new varieties of mid size cocktail clusters which deliver consistently flavorful, uniform, firm and juicy tomatoes with good aroma, high brix and high productivity that exceed both customer and consumer expectations.”
Savorino
Savorino is a 70g attractive, uniformly round, bright red cocktail on a thick green, fresh vine of 9 firm and juicy fruits with a 7% brix. "Research shows that consumers love its sweet and zesty flavor and herb twist, distinctive and surprising tomato 'bite' and attractive fruity, sweet aroma."
With its fine textured skin, firm and fleshy fruit with just the right amount of juice, consumers describe Savorino as “an interesting and characterful friend in the kitchen. Always surprising you with its distinctive and outstanding flavour that is a nice surprise in your salad or soup.”
FlavorTom
FlavorTom is a slightly larger cocktail of 80-100g also uniformly deep red and round on a thick green, fresh vine of 6 firm and juicy fruits with a 6-7% brix. "Perfect for consumers who love a good, balanced flavorful tomato with a pleasant fruity aroma. Its fine skin and firm and juicy texture make it a tomato that consumers describe as an affable and easy going friend in the kitchen. Always there to help you with its tasty and appetizing flavor."
