Expo AgroAlimentaria kicks off today

Today the Expo AgroAlimentaria kicks off in Irapuato , Mexico. The annual show offers an answer to the growing Mexican horticultural industry and is one of the biggest in the region. It's the 24th edition of the event and will last from today until Friday November 15th.

Growing industry
The horticultural industry in Mexico has been growing rapidly in the last decades and growers are also investing a lot in technology. This is shown also in the show, that covers for example 1.8 hectare demo greenhouses where breeders show their new varieties and a hall mainly focused on greenhouse technique. In addition also agriculture is present broadly during the event.

The show is held in a greenhouse built by Inverca - and since its their 30 year anniversary this year it's a festive event.

The Inverca booth is ready for today as well

"Guanajuato can become the fridge of the world", said Roberto Castañeda Tejeda with the secretariat of the agrifood and rural development at a press conference prior to the show.

The show will also host various country pavilions, including an Italian one, a Dutch one and a Israel one.

The show is expected to be slightly slower than earlier years. This has to do with violence in the region, challenging logistics amongst the show and also with the launch of GreenTech Americas, the newly launched platform that will take place in 24 - 26 March 2020, in Querétaro, Mexico.
