Asia & Pacific Seed Association delegation visit Hazera

The visit to Israel of the Asia & Pacific Seed Association’s delegation, comprised of delegates from Japan, China, Hong Kong, India, Thailand and even Indonesia, was intended to expose visitors to advanced Israeli technologies, and in particular to the development of seeds for agriculture.

One of the highlights of their visit to Israel was a tour of Hazera’s company headquarters on Monday, September 23, during which members of the delegation heard about the company’s developments and innovations, as described by Amit Einav, the company’s Deputy CEO. The world of tomatoes was presented by Yaron Giras, Tomato Global Product Manager. Another highlight of the visit was a tour of Hazera’s quality control laboratories. Smadar Kleiman Shoval, the Global Quality Control and Seed Technology Director, conducted a tour of the Purity Lab, and in the germination lab the delegation was guided by Efrat Makovitzki, the laboratory’s Manager.

Members of the delegation enjoyed tasting an assortment of Hazera’s tomatoes at the company’s visitors taste experience center, accompanied by Yaron’s explanation about the new, branded and innovative varieties – of all colors, shapes and sizes. Finally, the visitors were led on a tour of tomato, pepper and demonstration fields by Adi Kadmon, Lettuce and Pepper Product Manager.

The visit was the initiative of Dagan Aloni, Israel’s trade attaché in Thailand, in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and the Export Institute, with the aim of promoting commercial, scientific and technological relations in the fields of advanced agriculture and seeds between Israel and East Asian & Pacific nations. The delegation was accompanied, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, by Omer Sela, the Chamber’s Branch Field Manager.

Throughout their tour at Hazera, the delegation was accompanied by Mr. Amit Einav, the company’s Deputy CEO, who also serves as Chair of the Seeds division of the Chamber of Commerce, who said: “We congratulate the members of the distinguished delegation on their arrival in Israel. We are confident that the delegation will be able to learn a great deal both in their professional fields of interest and about the State of Israel in general, and we would love to see more such collaborations and visits in the future as well.”
