China: Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Modern Agricultural Industrial Park Project settled in Hailing

On September 6, the Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Sustainable Horticultural Technology Exchange Conference was held in Taizhou, and the foundation ceremony was held in the Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Modern Agricultural Industrial Park.

Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Modern Agricultural Industrial Park is located in the modern agricultural industrial park of Hailing District, which is the first project for Sino-Dutch cooperation building 1000-hectare intelligent greenhouses in China. The representative of the Dutch Fresh Food Technology Industry Alliance, which is independently registered as “Taizhou Hake Agricultural Development Investment Co., Ltd.” in Hailing District, is responsible for the investment, construction, and operation of the project. The total investment of the first phase pilot is about 2.5 billion RMB, which the planned land area is about 2300 mu and is expected to be completed in 2022. The second and third phases will also be invested more than 10 billion RMB to “transplant” the complete industrial chain of precise agriculture in the Netherlands and further build the largest intelligent greenhouse industry cluster in Asia.

Under the background of the national “Belt and Road Initiative”, rural revitalization strategy and agricultural modernization development, in December 2018, the Hailing District Government signed a contract with the Dutch Fresh Food Industry Alliance to build a Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Modern Agricultural Industrial Park Complex. The project is a major project for the Hailing District Committee and the district government to build a modern industrial system and create a characteristic agricultural introduction. It is also an important platform for building a modern agro-ecological corridor in the northern city and leading the rural revitalization.

During the meeting, 22 companies in the Netherlands actively participated in and exhibited, covering greenhouse construction, seeds & seedlings, LED lighting, automation equipment, training, and education, covering the entire supply chain of agriculture and horticulture.

The Netherlands is a country with a developed economy and culture. Agriculture is very advantageous. Although it has a land area of ​​only over 40,000 km2, it is the world's second-largest exporter of agricultural products.

Under the background of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative in China, under the joint promotion of the leaders of China and the Netherlands, the “Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Modern Agricultural Industrial Park” project was launched, which combined the Dutch agricultural advantages with the characteristics of Taizhou.

At the meeting, Ou Yalin, deputy consul general of the Consulate General of the Netherlands in Shanghai, said that she was honored to come to this beautiful city of Taizhou to participate in the Sino-Dutch (Taizhou) Sustainable Horticultural Technology Exchange Meeting. Representatives from 22 companies in the Netherlands and relevant Chinese experts gathered together. Everyone exchanged professional knowledge and learned about the situation in the Netherlands and China, especially in Taizhou City, and will surely stimulate cooperation.

Chen Mingguan, Deputy Mayor, said that Taizhou and the Netherlands have a good foundation for cooperation in economic and trade, agricultural science and technology, industrial cooperation, and youth exchanges and he hopes that this event will be an opportunity for Taizhou and the Netherlands to jointly build modern agricultural R&D platform, introduce advanced technologies, strengthen project cooperation and personnel training. Taizhou will provide first-class government services and a good social environment to reach more consensus and achievements.

At the exchange meeting, a number of modern agricultural companies from Taizhou, Changzhou, Zhenjiang, and other places have met with 22 companies from the Netherlands. The exchange meeting also introduced the situation and outlook of the horticulture industry in Taizhou, and the modern facilities technology in the Netherlands.
