More than 120 students from Technical Computer Science came together in World Horti Center on Wednesday, September 4 to learn about the opportunities in the greenhouse horticulture sector.
After a short introduction of the sector, the first and second-year students dove deep into the questions from the practice of five different greenhouse horticulture companies. Every group of students was given a technical issue, to which they presented an out-of-the-box solution to the company.

There was a great variety of cases the companies presented. They brainstormed about the Internet of Things, a solution was sought for the entanglement of roots of cuttings, and they looked at the possibility of calculating selling prices by analytical research.
Companies from all corners of the sector reacted enthusiastically on the Bedrijvendag at Rotterdam in World Horti Center. Logiqcs, Codema, Stolze, Juva and Corn. Bak were present during the event. Rob van den Ende, software developer with Logigs: "This meeting is a unique opportunity for us to draw attention of potential future colleagues to our company."
The greenhouse horticulture companies not only came into contact with future talent, they also got new solutions for the questions in their company because of the fresh perspective at things from the students.
A group of second year students says never to have known that Technical Computer Science connects so well with the greenhouse horticulture sector. "We thought it was all going to be about tomatoes, but an entire world has opened up to us!"
