Spain pays for Moroccan zucchini 51% more than for the Spanish

In the first six months of this year, Spain imported 10.55 million kilos of zucchini from Morocco; 204.91% more than five years ago. These imports were worth € 7.83 million.

During this period, Andalusian zucchini growers received an average price of € 0.49 per kilo for their product, while Spain paid an average price of € 0.74 per kilo for the Moroccan zucchini. This means that the zucchini from Morocco was purchased for 51.02% more than that from the Spanish greenhouses.

These figures have been reported by the Estacom statistical office (ICEX-Tax Office) in the case of the imports from Morocco and by the Prices and Markets Observatory of the Government of Andalusia when it comes to the prices paid for Spanish greenhouse cucumbers.
