The biggest eggplant greenhouse in the Northwest Federal District of Russia is scheduled to be opened in September 2020. Production capacity is going to reach 10 thousand tons.
The overall amount of investments will comprise 81.7 million Euro. Agricultural company Vyborgec will act as an investor to the project. The greenhouses with the overall acreage of 14 ha will be located in Vsevolozhsk region, where the main production facilities of the company are placed. 240 new working places will be created with the launch of the complex.
Earlier the deputy head of the government of Leningrad region, the Head of Committee on Agricultural and Fish Complex, Mr. Oleg Malaschenko noted that last year the region became the leading one in greenhouse eggplant growing. 50 kilos were produced for each square meter. The regional enterprises grew 175.5 thousand tons of vegetables last year, 1.3% more compared to the preceding year. In all, vegetable growing takes up 14.5% of the whole agricultural production in the country.
Agricultural company Vyborzhets has launched 3.5 ha of new greenhouses this year: the second phase of the greenhouse with the acreage of 11 ha, growing tomatoes, dill, parsley, basil, ruccola and peppermint in the amount of 35 million packages a year.
