Dutch retailer leaves bananas, cucumbers and celery unpackaged

Because Albert Heijn aims to use 25% less packaging by 2025, and what remains must be recyclable. Over the last 10 weeks Albert Heijn conducted a pilot in Hoofddorp by offering fruit and vegetables without packaging.

The products that Albert Heijn will be offering in the store without plastic will be: bananas, cucumbers, red peppers, aubergine and celery. The test showed that radish and Brussels sprouts still need packaging.
