Peracto to showcase its latest research services at Hort Connections

Major Australian and New Zealand agricultural testing and research company, Peracto, is currently involved in a number of key research and development projects in the agriculture industry and will be exhibiting at this year's Hort Connections in Melbourne.

Peracto is an independent contract research organisation which aims to assist clients by providing answers to their research questions.

"We support our clients in research and development by conducting field and controlled environment trials with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and growth regulators" Business Unit Manager Bruno Maurer said. “We can also offer residue studies (GLP). Peracto can help you win on cost and efficiency by managing the entire project, from development of the trial program to product registration.”

The company conducts agricultural field research across major cropping regions with teams operating in all Australian states and both islands of New Zealand. Peracto employs around 40 staff in total.

"We work with all national and international chemical companies which are on the market," Mr Maurer said. "We specialise in horticulture, but we also work in other areas. We have a wide range of produce that we work with; from macadamia and walnuts to apples, to lettuce, bananas, mangoes, lychees and many more so it is a very wide range."

Peracto was formed 34 years ago. In 2016 Peracto merged with leading CRO STAPHYT, which was further extending its worldwide research and development network.

"For STAPHYT it was really important to start in Australia on a new continent, with such an experienced partner like Peracto" Mr Maurer said. "So, for the past two and a half years we have been part of the STAPHYT Group. Our clients benefit from our global presence as we can conduct two season’s trials in the one calendar year by conducting out of season trials in both the Southern and Northern hemispheres”.

While the company has taken part in Hort Connections in previous years, it will be Mr. Maurer's first time attending, and he says he is looking forward to showcasing the company with the marketing team.

"It is really important for us to participate in this exhibition," he said. "We look forward to doing more events like this in the future.

Peracto will be at stall 220 at Hort Connections.
