China: Low supply of locally grown Changsha peppers

Since March the different pepper varieties in Changsha, China, showed different degrees of price increase. The main reason for this development is limited supply to the wholesale market in Changsha. Local peppers have not yet entered the market, and outside supply is insufficient. The market relies on outside supply, but because of unfavorable weather conditions the production volume is much smaller than expected, and the price is therefore much higher. The price nearly doubled.
