alternatives to plastic

Presenting produce on cardboard trays

Because of the increasing demand for alternatives to plastic packaging, Boix organized a demo afternoon about the MCT-1 / VE tray forming machine on Thursday afternoon, April 18. The demo took place in the Boix showroom in Eerbeek (Netherlands). Here, interested individuals could get acquainted with the tray forming machine, view various examples of sustainable packaging and exchange experiences with each other.

The group of around 25 participants was welcomed in the showroom, where the range of Boix box forming machines is installed. After a short introduction about Boix and the possibilities for automatically forming and gluing of cardboard boxes and trays, it was time for the demonstration of the Boix MCT-1 / VE tray forming machine.

Environmentally friendly cardboard trays
The group of participants could experience how the Boix MCT-1 / VE simultaneously set up two different sized trays: a high, conical cardboard tray in full color and a low, rectangular cardboard presentation tray in a black version. In addition to these stackable cardboard trays, many more designs are possible for packaging of, for example, vegetables, fruit, snacks, meat products, bread, pastries and other confectionery. That is why everyone could, for inspiration, see more than 200 packaging examples of both solid cardboard and corrugated cardboard.

Experiences from practice
After the practical part, the experiences of customers, who are already working with the tray-forming machine, were illustrated on the basis of a practical case. For example, the inclusion of the Boix MCT-1 / VE in a production line was discussed. The demo machine is equipped with tunnels, which act as the exit for the produced trays. However, the MCT-1 / VE tray forming machine has already been prepared to be included in a production line, whereby transport tracks can be connected as an exit for the formed trays.

Cardboard trays as a more sustainable packaging solution

The participants in the demo afternoon were very interested in the environmentally friendly packaging solutions, the practical experiences and the savings that the automatic forming process offers with regard to personnel, logistics and packaging material. Interesting discussions were held and a lot of knowledge was shared.

Boix looks back on a successful afternoon and is organizing a second demo afternoon on Tuesday, May 14 from 1.30 pm to 4 pm.
