Qatar: Global scientific research team visits modern farm in Doha

The Training Department of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in collaboration with Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) at Qatar Foundation and the Global Scientific Research Team paid a field visit to the International Farm of Ali Al-Kaabi. The team held its third meeting in Doha from the 9th to the 11th of April 2019.

A group of European scientists, researchers, consultants and specialists from some universities, institutions and ministries concerned with food, water and energy in Qatar took part in the visit.

The visitors toured the sections of the Farm where they reviewed the control sites, the management of the operations of producing vegetables and fruits in the greenhouses used in the Farm and the modern technologies used in managing sustainable water.

The stakeholders valued this visit as well as the remarkable progress which shall contribute to pushing forward sustainable development in order to realize food security and self-sufficiency in the State of Qatar in the light of local and global challenges.

National and global experts and consultants expressed their admiration of the modern technologies in the Qatari farms which are parallel to the global technologies; a matter which copes with the strategy and objectives of the State in supporting the food security system.
