Lanzhou Customs announced on April 10th that they inspected 8.9 tons of imported seeds in the first quarter of 2019. The seed varieties included chili pepper, tomato, and watermelon.
Gansu is the largest province of China in terms of vegetable, gourd, and flower seed production for other areas. More than 80 countries have stable, long-term seed plantations in Gansu. The surface area devoted to seed plantation in the Gansu Corridor (or Hexi Corridor) reached 4,667 hectares in 2018. The value of Gansu seed export reached 134 million USD and accounted for more than 65% of China's overall seed export value.
