Afghanistan: 118 greenhouses to be built in Farah

The Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) through the Community Based Agriculture and Rural Development Project (CBARD), will build 118 small greenhouses in the Posht Road and Khak-e-Safed districts of the Farah province.

The aim of the greenhouses is to create job opportunities for women, raising families’ livelihood and economy, and encouraging women to enter the market.

So far 70 of these greenhouses, each of which cost 46,435 AFN [600 USD], has been built and utilized. The remaining 48 will soon be built.

The beneficiaries of the greenhouses, women, cultivate various vegetables and Aloe Vera in the greenhouses, and after processing can produce pickles and jams, supplying it to the market.
