A day in the life of Jeroen van Gaalen (Alweco)

Strawberry grower gets last minute screen installation

At the beginning of December the phone rang: "This is Adrie Lauwrijsen", I heard on the other end. "Hello Adrie!" I said, upon which he responded "Do you still remember me?" I had to think for a few seconds, but then recognition set in. Of course... Adrie of Mts Lauwrijsen - Frijters, from the Ettenseweg in Sprundel, Brabant. They grow strawberries.

"Yes, I was at your door 3 years ago, and back then I saw you did not have a screen installation." "That is correct. Well, we need one now." "Alright, shall we make an appointment?" "Fine, just drop by."

And two days later I was in the greenhouse with my measuring tape. "Let's make a round through the greenhouse, shall we?" I said. "Yes, let's go." And after half an hour, it was time for coffee. Together we went over the last details for the 16,000 - 17,000 m2 screen. We could start working on the quotation.

"Oh yes", he said. "Is it possible to have the quotation ready soon?" "Of course that is possible, but why this question?" "We'd like to have the screen operational before we start up the heating."

"Oh, and when is this?" "End of January section 1 and two weeks later section 2." "Great, we are going to make it happen!"

A few days later we are together again to discuss the quotation. After a good conversation we shook hands.

Our planning team began measuring and the necessary materials for the project could be prepared. The goods were delivered in the second week of January and the men of Alweco started the installation. At the end of January, section 1 was ready, and two weeks later section 2. All well in time, the heating could be started up, and the Alweco energy screen could be closed.
