and nobody got hurt

Photo Report: 466 horticultural suppliers on 18,000 m2

An exhibition floor of just 18,000 m2 big that - when you do your best to finish it in time - will not take you longer than three hours to cross. However, on that same exhibition floor you can find Bosman Van Zaal, KUBO, Certhon, Havecon, Bom Group, VB Group, Gakon and Luiten. While crossing the 20 paths, you can visit De Ruiter, Axia Vegetable Seeds, Syngenta, Rijk Zwaan & Enza Zaden and check out their novelties. If you want to be updated on organic crop protection, you can visit Bioline AgroScience and then walk through to Koppert Biological Systems. This is what makes the HortiContact a unique place for Dutch horticulture.

The annual show traditionally takes place in February and originated as a local event. However, with this many suppliers together in one place, over the last couple of years more international growers and suppliers have decided to visit the show.

At the same time, the amount of Dutch growers visiting Gorinchem has decreased - making the three-day event also slow from time to time. It seems to be something that events all around the globe have to deal with: while upscaling takes place in the horticultural industry, the amount of growers goes down. And when people are around, it's more chatting than talking business.

As always, there's an upside to this. Whenever the exhibition is slow, suppliers walk around and meet up with each other - and even though this is not why they participate, it is this unity that strengthens the industry.

And that's also what makes the HortiContact the easiest and most low-key way to meet as many suppliers as you would want - however, not everybody brings their international sales manager to the show. Substrates, lights, fixtures, crop protection, chemicals - you can find it all in Gorinchem. And of course HortiDaily, originating in the Netherlands, couldn't miss out either. We did our best and are ready to give you a digital tour through Dutch horticulture.
