Behold! The pepper packing robot

The use of robots is surely one of the main trends that the horticultural sector is experiencing. The dream of automation has always pushed innovation within industries, as it allows not only a better management of the workforce but also a better quality assurance. This is what the pepper packing robot was made for. This video shared by Cheddar, illustrating the functioning of said robot went viral in a very short time.

As the captions in the video itself describe, automation, and specifically this robot arm, is extremely beneficial for companies that want their products to be of consistent quality. Thanks to this pepper packing robot, companies can pack their peppers in an efficient, quick and precise way. The robot arm picks indeed those peppers that have the right colour, weigh and size, so that the final packages would be all uniform and consistent - something that is turning heads outside the horticultural industry!

The automated system was realized by two companies: Omron, which provided the technologies, such as delta robots and the vision system; and EasyPack Technologies, which built the actual machine.
