Hortec, UK agents for Javo B.V. announces the Javo Plus M2.0. The company explains, "it can be very versatile (9cm to 32cm pots with a change-over time of about 5 minutes) and capable of bare root work and bulbs whilst, when set up as a twin system, capable of about 6,000 pots/hour."
"The Javo Ecobasic can handle pots from 9cm to 21cm. Therefore, it is used both in smaller nurseries and in the larger production units where there is a need for occasional extra capacity or when small batches are necessary".
"With most of the weed control chemicals disappearing, pot topping is becoming important. The Javo ‘Easytopper’ is the company's response to this issue as any hand weeding, for instance, is much reduced".
"We are also starting to fit in hour meters and pot counters, where possible. This can be beneficial to costs and comparing projections with real outputs", the team with the company explains.
"Getting products out the growing area, through any cleaning, weeding, labelling process needs a form of ‘pace setter’. Conveyors do this as well as being used in the growing area."
The company pointed out that "the ‘backup’ is also vital as any machine can encounter issues or jam up. Thus, technical support, or, in the worst case, a service engineer on site, becomes vital. To have a potting crew standing idle for any length of time at about £10/hour/operator can soon add up to a lot of money".
