facility offers 7,000 lettuce heads and 300 trouts per week

“We take the guessing out of commercial aquaponics"

Harnois Greenhouses Inc. and ML Aquaponics Inc., two Canadian pioneering companies, have combined their expertise to offer commercial turnkey aquaponic facilities.

The “Model 7C” is a fine-tuned version of a facility operated for over 12 years in Quebec by Marc Laberge, president of ML Aquaponics, in a greenhouse built by Harnois Greenhouses. The Model 7C is compact yet produces an average of 7,000 heads of lettuce per week, depending on the season, and over 300 smoked trout filets. It creates 2 full time and 3 part-time positions. Laberge also hopes, if clients are willing, and local support is available, to employ 3 mentally challenged people per facility. Model 7C facilities are not only affordable but perfect for small and mid-size farmers who want to farm year-round and produce clean soilless organic foods. This turnkey facility takes full advantage of Harnois’ affordable Ovaltech-4 greenhouse, has a fully equipped service building, and allows fish to be smoked on site.

“We take the guessing out of commercial aquaponics,” says Laberge who has over 12 years of commercial aquaponic experience and offers complete training for each facility. “I am pleased to team up with Harnois who have been with me since Day 1, offering excellent service and advice. Not many greenhouse companies offer such quality service to small and medium sized farmers.”

The Model 7C aquaponic facility comes with everything, from construction blueprints to employee work schedules to onsite fish processing. Laberge has always emphasized the importance of design to ensure profitability and says the projected return on investment is very exciting.
