Danish tomato growers welcome drought and record harvest

The weather forecast only predicted sun in the past months. Tomato growers rejoice over an extremely good harvest. One of them is Claus Duedal Jakobsen. He is head of marketing and purchase at tomato grower Alfred Pedersen en Zn, in Bellinge, close to Odense. Normally they are harvesting 45 tons of tomatoes per day, but this year the amount of ripe tomatoes has increased by 15 to 20 percent. They can harvest an extra nine tons every day.

Jacobsen also foresees problems later on in the season. That is why it is important to profit for the optimal conditions as much as possible.
