A phone call from Tuscany from a grower who has a problem with paint peeling off of heating tubes getting in touch with a relation in Israel who had heard that HBV supplies good coatings and gives good advice. It's just an example of the global nature of Erwin van Lier’s job. "Painting and giving good advice regarding horticulture, that is my business."
It has been more than ten years already since Erwin entered the horticultural world as a paint supplier. The tube paint of HBV coatings is known to many growers in the Netherlands and Belgium. More and more often his paint is exported abroad. "I am now reaping the benefits from the good experiences growers have had with the paint here and abroad."
Advice
The jobs he has are each time of a different nature. A Turkish grower asked for advice about painting grow boxes. "Everything is possible is my answer, although not every paint is suitable for every job. Together with a technical advice team he is happy to answer such questions, in which you have to think about the climate conditions the paint is subjected to, and the underground that has to hold the paint. Painting steel tubes is different from painting galvanized tubes."
In spite of the rising demand for his products from abroad, HBV remains very active in the Netherlands. The main activity remains supplying turnkey projects. Speed is of essence in this, but never at the cost of service or quality. "Every batch of paint that leaves the factory is first checked by our laboratory before it is shipped to the customer."
Expertise
During busy periods the entire shed is filled. "I am a supplier of paint in the broadest sense of the word. I supply paint for anything that can be painted in and around greenhouses, including canteens and silos. We also coat company floors and we supply glues for building projects." If so desired, HBV Coatings paints entire parking lots full of lines. We also supply accessories for painting tubes, from cloths for painting tubes to sanding materials.
According to Erwin he is able to meet various demands because of a good team of experts he has gathered. "Because of this we never have to say no. If we don't have the expertise, we know the right people. We can meet any paint demand."
