Turkish governor meets with greenhouse growers

The governor of Diyarbakir Hasan Guzeloglu visited greenhouses and met with the greenhouse growers in Diyarbakir. Guzeloglu: “There are 33 greenhouses in Diyarbakir. We are looking to increase the number of the greenhouses in our city and create a major source of revenue stream for our people.“


The governor visited the district of Bismil and the Plant Pallet Production and Marketing Facility and wheat silos. He underlined that Diyarbakir is an important center for agricultural production and they are looking to expand the production by utilizing the advantageous climate conditions and introducing new products to their assortment.

Guzeloglu added that there is intensive work in these greenhouses where on average 30 tons of tomatoes or 25 tons of cucumber per 10,000 square feet is grown annually in greenhouses. Guzeloglu: “We will continue to support these types of projects and would like to transform Diyarbakir into a center of agricultural production by 2023. We want to increase our production capacity and will do anything in our power to support farmers and growers. Agriculture industry requires a lot of strategic thinking and planning. It is vital for the continuation of humankind and in Diyarbakir we have suitable climate conditions, available land, required irrigation systems and labor force to expand our production significantly."
