Nearly 250 million USD worth of grants given to 31,000 young farmers in Turkey

In 2016 and 2017, 31,000 young farmers were given a grant of nearly 250 million USD in total under the Young Farmer Support Program. 125 million USD additional grants will be given within this year.

According to the report, the program, which was put in effect in February 2016, provides farmers between ages of 18-40 a grant up to 8,000 USD as a support for their projects they have developed. The program will be in effect until the end of 2018 where the goal is to provide grants worth nearly 750 million USD in total to around 48,000 young farmers. 

The grants were given in projects such as cattle and sheep farming, facility construction, beekeeping, poultry production, mushroom production, construction of greenhouse production facilities, geographic marked production of food, sericulture, medicinal and aromatic plant production, processing, storage and packaging, outdoor ornamental plant cultivation, orchard, vineyard and fruit production.
