China and IAEA strengthen nuclear agriculture cooperation

Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Aldo Malavasi, Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and his delegation in Beijing on 24 Oct. 2017. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in nuclear agriculture.



Vice Minister Qu introduced China’s research progress and application of nuclear technology in agriculture and highly commended the close cooperation between China and the IAEA. He expressed that China is willing to further cooperation with the IAEA in nuclear application like agricultural breeding, pest control and agro processing, and strengthen technical support to other developing countries to ensure global food security.



Mr. Aldo Malavasi thanked the Chinese Government for its long-standing support for the IAEA, and appreciated the outstanding contribution of China, as a technology exporter, to nuclear agriculture advancement in other developing countries. He also expressed the willingness to step up exchanges and cooperation, and capitalize on China's experience and strengths to promote sound nuclear agriculture development around the globe.
