Massimo tells us that the company was founded by his father Dino and their uncle Angelo in 1947. "At first, we specialised in irrigation systems and then, in the 1960s, we started designing and building greenhouses. The new headquarters were built in 2005 and we are now an important company in the field of technical solutions for crops in protected environments."
The new facility is home to a state-of-the-art office and warehouse production department, a conference room seating over 300 people and a showroom where company meetings and large events such as "Tecnica in campo" are organised.
In 2016 alone, Lucchini worked in 42 different countries and supplied assistance 24-, 365 days per year. "In the 1980s, we only supplied three types of greenhouses whereas now we can design and build all kinds of structures."
"Clients are an essential asset, that's why we've completely changed our policy over the past twenty years - we want to meet our customers needs. Greenhouses must be interpreted according to the crop and topographic and climatic characteristics. We can tackle all construction aspects but, first of all, we rely on experienced agronomists."
Greenhouse cultivation is becoming increasingly popular all over the world and Lucchini feels the tendency of supermarket chains to invest in direct procurement must not be underestimated.
Lucchini has been investing also in vertical farming for domestic environments as well as for retail and urban procurement needs. Some solutions have been presented in cooperation with ENEA during TuttoFood and Macfrut 2017.
