April 4-5, Moscow

Russia hosts 3rd international vegetable forum 'VegCult'

Agriculture experts from across the world as well as Russian and foreign (including from the US and Italy) speakers, bankers and the largest FMCG retailers will gather in the House of the Moscow Region Government. This year, participants of the Forum will discuss the most urgent issues concerning the development of the vegetable growing sector.

Participants of the plenary session of the III International Agrarian Forum on Vegetable Crops "VegCult" will focus on the "Life after Sanctions" and "Russian Vegetable Growing Development Outlook" topics. Among the participants of the session are Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Aleksandr Tkachev, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Andrey Vorobiev, Governor of the Moscow Region, Denis Butsaev, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region, Minister of Investments and Innovations of the Moscow Region and other experts.

Can agribusinesses count on state support? How to sell your crop for more money? What breakthroughs are Russian breeders inventing? Is the future of agribusiness in cooperation? Participants will discuss these and other issues in the course of roundtables featured on the Forum's program.

Participants of the VegCult 2017 will also have an opportunity to meet with representatives of the key FMCS sector players, including DIXY Group, X5 RetailGroup, LLC 4 Seasons, where they will learn the tips and tricks of choosing the best distribution channel and preserving the quality of produce. They will also find out about the latest trends in the retail industry.

The program of the VegCult 2017 also features a "Banking Time" session. Representatives of the largest Russian banks (PJSC Sberbank, JSC Bank Vozrozhdenie, JSC Rosselkhozbank) will present up-to-date financing facilities supporting the development of agribusinesses and preferential lending programs. They will also answer participants’ questions.

According to a decree signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, 2017, the year when the III International Agrarian Forum on Vegetable Crops "VegCult" is scheduled to be held, is declared the Year of Ecology. Therefore, the VegCult 2017 will focus on the quality of produce, production of environmentally safe vegetables, introduction and use of energy-efficient technologies, formulation of economic incentives for "green" business, establishment of a system of voluntary environmental certification and recycling and disposal of agro-industrial wastes.

The VegCult 2017 will host a two-day exhibition demonstrating domestic and foreign innovative approaches to growing vegetables in open and protected ground. A Business Contact Exchange, a unique networking venue, where participants will connect with new business partners, will also be operating on the Forum's fields.

It was not an accident that the Moscow Region was chosen the host of the III International Agrarian Forum. The Moscow Region is one of the front-runners of the Russian agricultural market. According to the region's development plan, it should achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural produce by 2018. Therefore, the Moscow Region Government has set the promotion of vegetable growing as one of the priorities of its development.

The International Forum VegCult has gained a reputation of a venue where industry players generate concrete practical solutions addressing topical issues of the Russian vegetable growing sector. Four greenhouse construction investment agreements totaling 25.1 billion rubles were signed on the fields of the I and II Forums in 2015-2016. Obligations under three of them are being currently discharged. One agreement has already been fully implemented. In 2016, the number of VegCult's visitors coming from 35 countries reached 2,000.
