AgroEnergy starts ETPA pilot with Dutch growers

Tuesday 31 January, the Energy Trading Platform Amsterdam (ETPA) officially was launched. ETPA is a new trading platform that focuses mainly on intraday trade.

ETPA wants to open the energy market for small players for whom the APX is too expensive and too complicated. TenneT is 40% shareholder of ETPA, they see ETPA as a suitable place for flexibility and possibly, in the future, to exchange measurement and control products between suppliers and buyers. Not only the network operators, but also the energy companies understand the potential of ETPA. With the exception of a few large companies everybody attended the launch.

AgroEnergy starts pilot with growers

Agro Energy and Eneco are supporter of ETPA. They think that an intraday market is the place where they can sell flexible power from greenhouses to parties who need flexibility between APX auction and the time of delivery. Now mainly large power plants are meeting intraday demand. That value is now becoming more accessible to growers.

AgroEnergy will soon start a pilot with a few clients to trade on ETPA once the problems with data traffic from ETPA are solved. ETPA regards Agro Energy as an important partner. That's why Peter van den Berg, Director of Agro Energy, was invited to speak at their official launch. After the event, in the video below, Peter speaks once more about the benefits ETPA has for the greenhouse sector ( In Dutch)
