US (NJ): Cutting Edge Grower Supply closes its doors
Cutting Edge could no longer keep its doors open as a result of customers who went bankrupt or could no longer pay their bills. "Mostly due to nonpayment from multiple customers we were forced to close our doors", said Jackie Barendregt. "We had one large customer that left us with a warehouse full of product when he did not build in Kingsville. We purchased from multiple vendors for him. We are very sorry for our existing customers and suppliers that we can no longer pay our bills due to this."
Cutting Edge was founded by Tony and Jackie in 2009. From their warehouses in New Jersey they supplied hydroponic greenhouse growers in the U.S. and Canada with all kinds of supplies, from clips, twines, fertilizers, substrates and dripper stakes to complete gutter systems and irrigation supply, pumps and control units.
The couple has been working in the greenhouse industry their whole life; Dutchman Tony Barendregt came to the U.S. and started to work for Agro Dynamics in East Brunswick NJ, where he met Jackie. The couple later on ran a North American division for Meteor Systems to eventually found their own company: Cutting Edge Growers Supply.
Tony and Jackie are now uncertain about their future and lost most of their retirement savings trying to save their company. "Existing customers can still call us on our office line (732.905.9220/866.855.1442) or e-mail us if they need anything. We can help them from our home, but unfortunately no longer under the name of Cutting Edge."
