UK: Agriculture division RJ Herbert Engineering in Dutch hands
British company RJ Herbert Engineering Ltd., which has been in administration since July 2016, has been acquired by Dutch company Herbert Engineering BV effective 1 November 2016. The acquisition of the Agriculture and Freshpack Division by the exclusive European distributor Herbert Engineering BV brings an end to months of uncertainty concerning the future of this division of the company based in Cambridgeshire, England.
The British company RJ Herbert Engineering Ltd. was founded in 1972. It has since its establishment been specialised in the development and manufacture of sorting and handling systems for the agricultural and Freshpack industries. In addition to the Agriculture Division, the company has expanded its activities to include specialised divisions and applications for the waste management and airport industries. The latter two divisions are not included in the acquisition.
As an exclusive distributor of Herbert Farm Fresh Pack and Process technology and machinery, Mark Verschuren has in his role as Managing Director of Herbert Engineering BV been able to successfully market the British brand in Europe and beyond:
"The acquisition of the Agriculture Division of RJ Herbert Engineering Ltd was unavoidable but fits in our vision for the future. The know-how and expertise concerning this industry that has been developed since 1972 make us an extremely reliable partner for Fresh and the process industry. This acquisition gives us scope to introduce our Total Solutions concept worldwide by the end of this year," says Mark Verschuren.
