"International joint venture to take Horti Asia 2017 to new heights"

VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, organizer of the 5th Horti Asia in 2017, announced that it entered into a joint venture with the German Association and Exhibition Organizer DLG. Together, both companies aspire to internationalize and grow Horti Asia to develop into the leading event in the region for fruit, flower, vegetable, plant production and greenhouse technology.

Under the terms of the joint venture, DLG and VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific start their collaboration to establish joint ventures in both Horticulture and Agricultural exhibition in Thailand. The joint venture will attract international experts and horticulture suppliers due to the two companies' European and Asian industry network. This year, the exhibition targets more than 200 exhibitors from 20 countries covering the full supply chain from pre to post harvesting, breeding, seed, seeding, fertilizer, soil improvement, planting and cultivation technology, climate control, ventilation, grading & packaging, monitoring technologies, certification body, greenhouse equipment and technologies, terminals, ports, warehousing facilities for fruit, flower, vegetable, plant production. The exhibition will attract more than 8,000 visitors from around the world interested in the latest horticulture solutions, research, innovation from 15 - 17 March 2017, Thailand is set to become the Asian hub of horticulture.

“While Asia represents more than 50% of the global population, most horticultural technology still comes from the West. With Horti Asia DLG and VNU Exhibitions develop a platform to link the global industry. As the rising demand for horticultural produce continues to increase, Asia is set to become the global market driver,” said Nino Gruettke, Managing Director of VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific.

The exhibition will further attract many international conferences targeting the Asian market. From Coconut Oil at the Global Level for Health: Past, Present and Future to drought and flood prevention, international associations and experts host in-depth forums and workshops.

Horti ASIA 2017 will be held together with the 2nd International Conference on Coconut Oil (ICCO) with the new theme of Coconut Oil and Downstream Products, Quality and Processing.

The Southeast Asia region is also a leading export market for flowers. With plans to develop a transportation hub in Bangkok or Singapore, shipping offcut flowers from Southeast Asia and even the Yunnan province in China. Horti Asia offers a platform for the industry. The transportation concept of a shipping hub would imply that initially all cut flower production intended for export to northeast Asian destinations would first be shipped to the hub, e.g. Bangkok, and then re-distributed to specific destinations in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore. This routing for northeast Asia could be extended to Australia and New Zealand.

Mr. Harald Braungardt, Executive member of the Management Board, INDEGA - Association Representing the Interests of the German Horticultural Industry said the previous edition of the show was larger, looked even more professional and the quality of the visitors had been taken to the next level. Horti Asia offered the exhibitors and visitors a good opportunity to network and to learn more about the possibilities of horticulture business in South East Asia."
