Improve water management with new surfactant H2Flo

With water efficiency become a growing challenge in many crops including soft fruit and vines, ICL will be showcasing its new surfactant H2Flo − which can cut water usage by up to a quarter − at Fruit Focus (stand 354).

“Water conservation is a key global ICL initiative,” says Scott Garnett, ICL specialty agricultural manager for UK & Ireland. “Trials of H2Flo have shown water usage can be cut by over 25% in field grown crop while maintaining yields.”

Applied to the soil via irrigation, H2Flo is set to improve water efficiency in a wide range of field grown horticultural crops, including soft fruit. While water issues tend to be greatest on sandy soils, this surfactant can also generate significant water savings on heavier land. Unlike single shot penetrants, H2Flo has the benefit of offering a residual effect over several weeks.

“H2Flo is the way to save water and money while maintaining yield,” says Scott. “The benefits are not restricted to sandy soil. All crops treated so far have responded well, including strawberries, carrots, potatoes and peppers.”

Another highlight of the ICL stand is a specialist new sprayer water conditioner – pHixer.

“The quality of the water used in spray solutions can have a significant impact on the performance of a pesticide or foliar nutrition programme,” explains Scott. “With its unique formulation, pHixer adjusts spray tank water to an optimum pH of 4.0 - 5.0.”

Also featured will be Select PeKacid, the patented highly acidifying and 100% soluble potassium and phosphate fertigation fertilizer recommended for areas with hard water or calcareous soils.

“By lowering pH PeKacid enhances nutrient uptake and also has anti-clogging action,” explains Scott. “Chloride and sodium free, it contains solid phosphoric acid in a dry form thus combining the advantages and efficiency of phosphoric acid with the ease and safety of a solid crystalline fertilizer.”

In addition, ICL’s stand will feature foliar feed Agroleaf Power, the new Agroleaf Liquid range and the all-in-one Agrolution Special range. With UK distribution rights for Lallemand Plant Care products, growers visiting stand 354 can find out more about the powerful new osmoregulator Intracell - promoting firmer fruits and prolonged shelf life, the biofertilizer Cilus Plus and the biofungicide Prestop.
