US(OH): Buckeye Fresh expanding indoor cultivation
Buckeye Fresh was founded by CEO Tim Remington in 2014 after retiring from the manufacturing business. Buckeye Fresh uses state-of-the-art technology in a controlled growing environment, allowing them to use 98% less water than most farm facilities.
Illumitex started working with Buckeye Fresh about eighteen months ago when the Eclipse Gen1 bars were first installed. The Illumitex turn-key team will work with Buckeye Fresh to install our newest LED fixture, the Eclipse Gen2 LED lights.
“We are helping them reduce energy consumption with a dimming system offered by Illumitex. In addition to lighting, we are helping them assess their current operations and the layout of their location,” said Paul Hardej, VP of Hortitecture Lighting.
Buckeye Fresh grows a variety of vegetables including spring mix, basil, spinach, kale, arugula, bok choy, radishes and more. The vertical farm started selling commercially last year to Buehler’s Fresh Foods and Heinen’s Fine Foods.
