June 8-10, Lorne, Victoria

Australia: 10th Hydroponic Farmers Federation Conference

From June 8-10 2016, the Hydroponic Farmers Federation are organizing their 10th biannual conference in Lorne, Victoria.

What is the HFF about?
“This year the conference is taking place at The Mantra, Lorne, Victoria, and Powerplants are the main sponsor of this event. This means we are driving the conference program with the HFF committee, and we are making sure the conference will be interesting for you, by including compelling speakers and exciting farm tours around the area. Our very own irrigation system specialist Marcus van Heyst and partner Jan Dijkman from Philips Lighting are two of the speakers we can already announce,” said Carl van Loon of Powerplants.

During the HFF Conference you will see:
  • Day 1 (Wednesday): Opening, speakers during the day and trade show, PCA AGM, followed by cocktail evening
  • Day 2 (Thursday): Speakers and trade show, Farm Tours incl. Boomaroo, followed by the Conference dinner and awards presentation
  • Day 3 (Friday): Breakfast with guest speaker, speakers and trade show, Q&A with panel members
The conference will be covering a number of topics, and the general theme of the conference is 'The next step' - how you, the grower, can take the next step in improving your business. A full conference program is available on the HFF website.

The organizing committee are setting some ambitious targets to get more delegates to the conference than ever before, and are well on track to achieving this goal. “Finding a time and location that suits everyone is always a challenge, but these events bring benefit in both networking, sales and industry promotion. The venue at Lorne has some fantastic facilities as well as being a first class location for this year’s conference," said Carl. “Sponsoring the HFF conference has also given us the chance to broaden the target audience for the event," explained Powerplants co-director, Simon Gomme. “The industry has expanded from being just about greenhouse growers involved in tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy greens. We are now seeing the berry industry adopting hydroponic growing as a base methodology, and this industry is expanding in leaps and bounds Australia wide. Prior to the conference, Powerplants are hosting a delegation of Tasmanian berry growers for industry visits and training, and they will then go on to join the main conference.”
