Water quality is one of the most important things for greenhouse growing. Cleaning and disinfecting a watering system directly affects the general state of the crop and eventually your wallet.
In 2015, Dutch supplier Houweling Horticulture started selling Intra Hydrocare after extensive testing. Intra Hydro Care is a product based on hydrogen peroxide stabilized with chelated silver. This combination makes for a strong disinfectant with unique properties.
Fully registered
Intra Hydrocare has an extended CTGB registration as a disinfectant. This means that the product may be legally used in the Dutch horticultural sector. Intra Hydrocare has authorizations in four biocidal classes; PT02, PT03, PT04 and PT05.
This extended registration implies that a large group of pathogens can be killed off quickly. Besides the usual examinations Intra Hydrocare has also been tested on specific plant pathogens such as agrobacterium, pythium and fusarium, proving to be effective in their elimination.
No harmful residues
Intra Hydrocare leaves no harmful residues. Products based on peracetic acid, chlorine or formaldehyde may produce toxic gases that are harmful if inhaled. When the time between two crops is very short disinfection is not advisable with an agent that leaves harmful gas in the greenhouse. There is often no time to properly vent the greenhouse. Intra Hydrocare decomposes into water and oxygen and is odorless. This is an advantage with short crop rotation.
Peracetic acid also corrodes metals, including aluminum, because of its acidic properties. Intra Hydrocare has these corrosive properties much less because it does not contain acids.
Intracare is the manufacturer and permit holder of Intra Hydrocare. The distribution in the Netherlands takes place in cooperation with Houweling Horticulture.
