Also German growers show interest in organic twine

According to German twine manufacturer Biopacks GmbH, more growers are interested in organic crop twine. Over the last year they have achieved positive results with vegetable growers who were using their Ecotwine ÖKO-Schnur. This twine has an FiBL and InfoXgen listing which makes it allowed for organic farming in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Ecotwine Öko-Schnur is produced from wood. a natural raw material. After the season the twine can be handled as chaff or used for composting. The Ecotwine Öko-Schnur is free of plastic and any chemical additives. "There is no PLA included, so the cord meets the highest level of sustainability and is not comparable with other bio cords", said Alfred Truchsess of Biopacks. "It is only slightly more expensive than plastic cord, but on the other hand no extra disposal costs are necessary. The use of the Ecotwine Öko-Schnur makes a real contribution to avoiding plastic waste. It is particularly suitable for use in vegetable production."

Biopack offers the Ecotwine Öko-Schnur at load limits of 10 kg, 20 kg, 30 kg and 40 kg. The cord has excellence performance throughout the season.

Biopack will presented their Ecotwine Öko-Schnur through their distribution partners at this year's IPM in Essen and the Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
